Little Paws Play Group
drop-in session, $12/dog each session (no reservation required) Little Paws Play Group is a drop-in play time (not obedience) session for puppies between 10 and 24 weeks of age. Every Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (unless otherwise posted on the class schedule), you and your pup can drop in to play with other dogs. The purpose of this group is for the young dogs to learn proper socialization with other pups and to build confidence (and to just plain have fun!), while giving you a chance to find out more about your puppy's behavior with others. You will learn how to interpret canine body language, vocalizations, when, if and how to intervene in different situations, etc. The sessions will be led by Pia who will be available to answer your puppy questions and give behavior and training tips!
A Puppy Comment! Requirements for Enrolling
NOTE! The puppy drop-in is an off-leash play time. We have an average of 12-15 puppies playing at each drop-in session. Some of these puppies are large breed dogs. Though children are welcome, we must caution you that small children could be jumped on and knocked over, nipped, or have doggie toys pulled out of their hands. If you bring your child (of any age) it is your sole responsibility to make sure he or she does not get hurt. We request that one adult supervises the child and one adult the puppy. ![]()

A puppy should meet 100 different dogs in it's first year of life." The main purpose of this course is socialization! One of the most important things you can do for your puppy is to let him or her socialize early with other dogs to avoid problems later on. Young puppies are very impressionable and easy to train because they don't know much of anything and haven't learned any "bad" behaviors yet. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of easy training, to encourage desired behaviors through positive reinforcement. The habits your puppy now learns he or she will also know as an adult. Make sure it's what you want him or her to know! This course is designed to prevent behavior problems (dog-to-dog aggression, space and toy possessiveness, shyness, bullyness etc.), by teaching the puppy appropriate behaviors in a controlled environment. Puppies will be introduced to basic exercises like:

Family members and/or friends are encouraged to attend class as observers. Children are also invited to attend, but small (too young to train) ones must remain seated during class. Children must be attended by an adult other than the person training the dog, and should have a QUIET toy with them to keep them occupied. Dogs not registered for the class may not attend. ![]() Intermediate (CGC) once/week for 7 weeks, $195 The purpose of this course is to start "proof" training already taught exercises. More live distractions will be added while teaching the dog more control. We will work on speeding up your dog's response and understanding of the different commands as well as start some off-leash work. It's designed to give your dog an opportunity to perform with the distractions of other people and dogs moving around in close proximity, to tolerate handling by strangers and other difficult distractions (i.e., handler "out of sight", moving objects, etc.). This is the preparatory course for the Canine Good Citizen test. If you elect to not take the preparatory course, you may come and just take the graduation test for a fee of $50. Please contact Pia for more details. Requirements for Enrolling
