K-9 Insight works with your dog's natural instincts, drives and individual breed characteristics, using exclusively Positive Reinforcement & Motivational Training Methods, including Clicker Training.

Pia and her students
Pia with canine students practicing
the "Sit & Watch Me" exercise.

We specialize in Fear and Aggression Prevention, Management and Rehabilitation.

K-9 Insight does not use and recommends against pinch (prong) collars, choke chains, and E-Collars (shock).

We place great emphasis on the pet/owner relationship and focus on building a mutually respectful relationship between pet and person, training for community living rather than strict competition obedience.

Our training programs are based on the scientific principles of behavior and learning, and are designed to build confidence and good socialization skills while learning great manners!

In our large in-door training facility, we offer fun and interactive dog training with hands-on instruction for all breeds and ages.

We strive to build a lasting bond between pet and person, and preparing your dog for a life in a human world and to become a "good citizen".

We will teach you how to develop a leadership role with your dog permitting reliable control with compassion!

There is no evidence that dogs have the kind of complex emotional lives and value systems that we do. It's one reason why we love them so much, in fact. They are neither "good" nor "bad". They don't hold grudges, act in petty ways, or seek revenge. They read our moods but not our minds. If they did, we'd start loving them as we love other humans, which could mean a lot less than we love them now.

Dogs are not "people" of another species. They ARE another species. To train and care for them properly, to show them how to live in our complex world, requires first and foremost that we understand that.
